This system uses R-410A, the refrigerant the EPA is phasing down. In May 2026 the EPA dropped the January 1, 2026 installation deadline for R-410A units made before 2025, so remaining stock can still be installed, but refrigerant for future repairs will get scarcer and dearer. New designs use R-32 or R-454B.
